Mental Health
Mental Health First Aid covers some of this, but for some more detail is needed and so awareness of mental health issues and the detail of theory and practice of mental health service delivery might be needed. 1 in 4 people will be diagnosed with mental health disorders and so it goes without saying that workforces have people who have and may well experience mental health problems. Drug and alcohol services see people daily with mental distress and disorder and many have not completed formal mental health training such as the RMN qualification, and so helping to bring those less confident staff up to speed could result in many advantages for you and the clients you help. This is usually a one or two day course aimed at people who are likely to work consistently with people who experience mental health disorders and need more than the MHFA can offer and is designed to give. Also available is supervision for staff regarding clients they may be working with, either virtually or face to face.
